About Yoga
– Joseph Campbell
In recent years, Yoga has become one of the most practiced forms of health and fitness throughout the globe. Its popularity often highlights what is called “Asana,” which is the physical movement and holding of postures. This is an essential part of Yoga, but is only scratching the surface of a much deeper well. Yoga is a vast living system that has developed over thousands of years and could be viewed as a wild garden with an infinite variety of flowers.
Yoga, originating in India, has its roots in the Sanskrit word “Yuj,” which means to yoke, team, or harness. The practice of Yoga, similar to Qigong, is a powerful way to alter one’s state of consciousness. Alongside the physical or “Asana” practice, Yoga incorporates breathing techniques, mediation, concentration, and following one’s bliss.
